Cylindrical Feeder Bowls

Standard cylindrical design for general-purpose parts feeding

Cylindrical Feeder Bowls

Overview

Cylindrical vibratory feeder bowls represent the most versatile and widely-used design in parts feeding automation. The straight-walled cylindrical design provides a reliable and proven platform for orienting a wide variety of component shapes and sizes.

These bowls feature a flat or gently sloped bottom with vertical or slightly tapered walls. The internal helical track winds around the bowl's circumference, carrying parts from the center toward the discharge point. Specialized tooling along the track orients parts and rejects incorrectly positioned components.

Our cylindrical bowls are the workhorse of the industry, suitable for everything from small electronic components to larger mechanical parts.

How It Works

Working Principle

Cylindrical bowls operate on the fundamental principle of vibratory conveying. The electromagnetic drive creates a combination of vertical and torsional vibrations that result in a micro-throwing motion at the bowl's surface.

This motion causes parts to:

Climb the spiral track - Vibration propels parts along the helical path
Encounter tooling - Wiper blades, gates, and cutouts orient parts
Self-selection - Correctly oriented parts continue; others return to bowl
Exit in position - Parts discharge in single-file, correctly oriented

The cylindrical geometry provides: - Maximum internal volume for part storage - Consistent track angle around the circumference - Predictable part behavior at all positions - Easy access for tooling installation and adjustment
